Should You Quit Your Job Before Finding a New One?

Are you unhappy with your current job?  Whether you are unsatisfied with your pay, with your position, with your supervisors, or with your coworkers, you may be interested in seeking employment elsewhere.  If you are interested in finding a new job, do you have a plan of action?  If you not, you will want to continue reading on.

Of course, the decision to quit your job, as well as when and how you do so, is your decision to make. With that in mind, it is important to not put yourself, your family, or your finances in danger. That is why you should not quit your job until you at least have a plan of action in place.  For many individuals, that plan of action should include a new job already lined up.

When it comes to leaving the workplace, there are many individuals who wonder why it is so important for them to first have a new job lined up. In today’s society, it has been reported that a good percentage of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.  If you are one of those individuals, do you know what could happen if you were to impulsively quit your job?  You may go weeks, possibly even months without a paycheck. This is a factor that many do not take into consideration, but you should as you will likely find yourself ineligible for unemployment compensation.

If you are living paycheck to paycheck, it is advised that you take the time to find a new job before submitting your resignation, no matter how unhappy you will be.  This is particularly important if you have a family to support.  You will also want to make sure that you are able to pay your rent or mortgage payments, as well as any car payments or auto insurance that you may have.  These are bills that many cannot live without. The last thing that you will want to do is risk losing your home.  This may seem like common sense, but many individuals do not always think of this aspect, especially when presented with a work related conflict.

Since it is advised that you do not submit your resignation until you have a new job lined up, you may be curious as to how you can go about doing so.  It may be a little bit difficult, but it is more than possible for you to work full time and also search for a new job at the same time. If you are financial stable enough to quit your job before you have a new one lined up, you may still want to proceed with caution.  It is advised that you try and give your employer at least two weeks notice.  If you are unable to do so, you may risk losing your current employer as a job reference.  If you have worked at your current job for some time now, you may want to keep this important point in mind.  That is why you should try and give as much notice as possible, even if it is only two or three days.

Are you looking for a new job?  If you are, there is a good chance that you will turn to the internet for assistance.  The internet is one of the easiest ways to go about examining career opportunities that may be waiting for you.

When it comes to using the internet to help you find a new job, you will find that you have a number of different options.  Two of the most popular ways to examine job openings online involve visiting the online websites of companies that you may know of and by visiting websites that are commonly referred to as career search websites.  What is nice about using these two online resources is that they are often easy to use, reliable, and successful.

As outlined above, you have a number of different options, when it comes to applying for jobs online.  You may even be provided with an email address, which you can use to submit your resume for a specific job opening.  Although you can submit your job application and resume online, you may be curious as to whether or not you should do so. For starters, you will want to take the company’s preference into consideration. If they state that they will accept online resumes, but request that you send them through the postal service, you may want to do so.

There are also a few points that you will want to keep in mind, when submitting your job application or resume online.  Unlike printed resumes and applications, you are unable to make changes as soon as you fill out and submit the form. What You Should Look for In a New Job?

Are you interested in changing jobs?  If you are, you may already have a dream job in mind.  Although it is nice to dream, it is important that you keep reality in mind.  Finding a new job can be difficult, but it is more than possible for you to do so. A few of the many things that you may want to look for in a new job are outlined below for your convenience

When searching for a new job, you will want to look for those that are intended to be long-term.  Long-term positions are ideal if you are looking to quit your current, stable job.  They are also ideal if you rely on your income to help support your family.  You will want to have and possibly need to have income not only right away, but income that you can rely on for months or years to come. That is why temporary positions may not be in your best interest, as a job that only lasts one or two months may be unable to provide you with the security that you want and need.

The ability to advance is another thing that you will want to look for in a new job.  If you regularly find yourself setting goals that you would like to achieve, such as higher pay or a position in management, you may will want to work for a company where you have the opportunity to advance. You will want to look for those that advertise that they like to promote from within.  Promotion from within is what gives you a better chance of advancing.  In fact, advancement is something that potential employers like to hear, so be sure to mention your hope for advancement in your job interviews.

Good, but realistic pay is something else that you should look for in a new job.  Unless you are sure, you may want to try and refrain from taking a pay cut.  If you are able to receive additional benefits that you currently do not have, a pay cut may be worth it, but it is advised that you proceed with caution.  Before you search for a new job, you may want to create a budget for yourself. A budget can help you determine how much money you need to make. This will ensure that you are able to find a new job that allows you to adequately pay your bills and support your family.

Health insurance is something else that you may want to look for in a new job. Although it may be unnecessary, you should keep health insurance in mind.  Not all employers provide their employees with health insurance coverage and many companies have a ninety day waiting period before health insurance coverage can be acquired.  If you are unable to get health insurance through a family member, such as your spouse, you may want to keep this in mind.  You may be able to extend your current health insurance coverage, for a monthly fee, but that extended coverage often has time limits and other restrictions.

Close proximity is another feature that you may want to look for in a new job. Location may not be an issue if you are willing to travel or relocate, but you should take your possible commute into consideration.  Jobs that are a ways away from your home may require extra travel time, possibly taking you away from your family.  You also need to examine the cost of gasoline and wear on your vehicle. Although location should be taken into consideration, you should remember that there are other, more important, features that you should look for in a new job, a few of which were outlined above.

What You Should Do If You Find Yourself Fired From Your Job

Each week, millions of Americans go to work, do their jobs, and collect their paychecks.  Unfortunately, there comes a time when that cycle is disrupted.  If you have recently found yourself fired or terminated from your current place of employment, you may be in shock.  Although shock is a normal feeling, it is important that you start taking action right away, should you ever find yourself fired from your current position.

As previously stated, you should take action right away if you ever find yourself terminated from your current work position.  This action is particularly important if you rely on your income to pay important bills, such as your rent or mortgage, or if you use your paycheck to help support your family.  Depending on the circumstances, you will find that most states do not allow those terminated from their jobs to collect unemployment payments.  This typically only happens if you are laid off.  What does this mean for you?  It means that means that you may need to try and find a new job right away.

Burnout as a Nursing Assistant

Those who decide to pursue a career in the medical field as a Nursing Assistant set out to show compassion and help others. Their hearts are in the right place, but they may soon find their minds and bodies suffering from burnout. This is the result of continually feeling like you can’t meet your work requirements. Soon you find you are completely drained and exhausted due to feeling overwhelmed. Often, the result is losing the motivation that lead you to take on that role in the first place.

The role of a Nursing Assistant is a demanding one. One of the biggest complaints from them is that they have too much to do, and not enough time to get it all done. Burnout is dangerous because it affects individuals emotionally, physically, and mentally. It is tough to see bright, compassionate Nursing Assistants leave the medical field because they have come to resent the role they have taken on. It no longer serves a purpose for them. What was once a positive experience has become a nightmare.

The stress of burnout on a Nursing Assistant can lead to problems with their health as well as lead to depression. Often, they either quit their job or they are fired. This leads to financial difficulties and many times issues in their relationships. As a Nursing Assistant, you can’t eliminate stress, but you can help control and reduce the effects of it. It is important to get plenty of rest and take care of yourself. Since most of us stretch ourselves too thin with too many commitments, see if there are areas you can cut back in. If you have solutions to issues at work, write them down. Ask to meet with your supervisor. Explain the problems, then offer solutions. This will show that you are interested in resolving the issues rather than just complaining.

It is very important to take time for yourself. Relax with a warm bath or read a good book. Too often we take care of everyone else’s needs at work and at home, leaving nothing of ourselves for us! Since the healthcare profession is the top contender for employees suffering from burnout, Nursing Assistants need to really take head of this advice and put it to good use early on in their career. Should You Ask for a Promotion?

Are you frustrated with your current position at work?  Would you like to advance in your company?  If you would like to do so, you may be interested in asking for a promotion.  The question is should you?

When it comes to determining if you should ask for a promotion, it is something that you may not want to do on impulse. Asking from a promotion can work in your favor, but there are no guarantees. A promotion request can cause no changes or it can cause you harm. For that reason, there are a number of factors that you will first want to take into consideration, before you ask your boss for a promotion.

One of the many factors that you will want to take into consideration, when determining if you should inquire about a promotion, is an open position.  If you want to be promoted, do you even know if there is an open position or one that will soon open? This, alone, can improve your chances of receiving a promotion, as they often say that timing is everything.  What you will want to do is keep your eyes and ears open.  If you hear of any open positions in your company or if you see job listings online or in your local newspaper, you may want to consider asking your supervisor for a promotion.

Your length of employment is another factor that should be taken into consideration, before you make a decision about asking for a promotion.  While there are no guarantees, your chances of receiving a promotion are higher with long-term employment.  Many companies like to promote from within, as well as promote those who have been with the company for an extended period of time.  A short employment term doesn’t mean that you can’t ask for a promotion, but it is just one of the many factors that you will want to take into consideration.

If you do decide that you would like to ask your supervisor or supervisors for a promotion, you are advised to proceed with caution.  Unless you have worked personally with your supervisors before, they may be unaware of your employment status or the tasks that you have completed.  You will want to attempt to schedule a meeting with your supervisor or supervisors. During this meeting, you will want to try and sell yourself.  Point out all of your accomplishments, mention how advancement has always been a goal of yours, and so forth.

That doesn’t mean that you should lie if asked, but it does mean that you should at least use your best judgment.  You will want to show all prospective employers that you have respect for management, even if you don’t like the management members.

If you were ever terminated from a job, you will want to proceed with caution during your job interviews. Discussing a job in which you were terminated from may not work in your best interest. With that in mind, it is important to examine the reason for your termination.  Anything serious such as sexual harassment or theft may want to be avoided during a job interview.  However, if you will receive a background check, this information may come into light anyways.  Once again, you will want to use your best judgment.

Bad pay is another topic that you may want to refrain from discussing in upcoming job interviews.  It is not uncommon for pay to be discussed during a job interview. With that in mind, should you find the starting salary to be lower than you may have thought, you will want to keep your composure.  It would be impolite for you to leave in the middle of your interview or complain about the pay.  What you may want to do, instead, is spin it in a somewhat positive matter that can still display your disapproval.  You may want to consider asking about the other benefits, like sick days or vacation days, which can be used as other forms of compensation.
